About

Founded in 2005 and headquartered in Sydney, Wiseway Logistics is a leading global freight forwarding and third-party logistics provider, specialising in cross-border trade between Australia/New Zealand, the Asia-Pacific, and the United States, with end-to-end supply chain management for general and perishable goods

“Halcrow didn’t just replace a spreadsheet. They embedded with our dispatch team, rode with drivers, and built around the real operational constraint: the driver–coordinator communication loop. The result was a platform our team actually wanted to use, with an audit trail we can trust down to GPS and timestamps."

Key Result

A purpose-built platform replacing Google Sheets for dispatch coordination, with a companion driver app replacing phone calls — and an immutable audit trail for every job.

The Situation

Wiseway Logistics, an ASX-listed courier and freight company operating across Australia, saw an opportunity to modernise dispatch and driver coordination — replacing a fast-growing reliance on shared spreadsheets with a platform genuinely built for how a courier operation moves in real time.

Wiseway wanted more than a digital version of a spreadsheet. They wanted complete confidence in every delivery, with a trustworthy, timestamped record of exactly what happened on every job.

Why they called us

Wiseway had already looked at off-the-shelf logistics platforms, and found that most were built around fixed routes and warehouse operations — not the courier, on-demand delivery model Wiseway actually ran. Wiseway wanted a partner who would build something genuinely fit for how they work, not adapt a generic platform to fit.

The real question Wiseway was asking was simple: can you build something that works the way we actually work?

How we worked

A week spent watching before writing any code

The engagement started with a full week of the Halcrow team embedded inside Wiseway’s dispatch centre, observing real operations during peak delivery windows. That time revealed a valuable insight: the real opportunity wasn’t just digitising the spreadsheet, it was building around the communication loop between dispatch and drivers that keeps the operation moving.

The design insight that changed the product

Wiseway’s coordinators spend significant time communicating directly with drivers — confirming ETAs, pickups, and handling exceptions on the fly. We designed the driver app around that communication loop directly, with job management as a clear, reliable downstream record.

What we built

The driver-facing mobile app makes that communication loop effortless: one-tap job acceptance, automatic navigation, GPS-timestamped status updates at every step, instant in-app exception reporting, and direct messaging with a coordinator. The dispatch web application mirrors this with a live dispatch board, simple drag-and-drop assignment, a unified communication hub, and a complete, immutable audit trail for every job.

That audit trail now gives Wiseway complete confidence resolving any delivery question — a full, GPS-timestamped record of every job, available in about 90 seconds.

WHAT CHANGED

Why embedding in the operation mattered

Understanding the Real Operational Heartbeat
The most valuable insight came from recognising that communication between coordinators and drivers, not job management alone, was the genuine heartbeat of the operation — and building around that insight from day one.

Real Usage Surfaces the Best Ideas
A driver earnings display, discovered during prototype testing, became one of the most-loved features in the app — a great example of the kind of insight that comes from watching real usage closely.

WHY THIS WORKED

Wiseway’s platform was built from inside the dispatch centre, not a meeting room — and that proximity is exactly what produced a tool coordinators and drivers prefer using every day, rather than one they were simply told to adopt.

what you're buying

If your operation runs on spreadsheets and you want a platform genuinely built around how your team actually works, this is what that looks like — complete confidence in every job, and a tool your team actually wants to use.
